The 28th Economic Forum in Krynica ended. The motto of the 2018 Economic Forum was "Europe of common values or a Europe of common interests". Among the programs of the first day of the Economic Forum, the VAT Fraud Section was among the representatives of the supreme audit institutions.
The Central European Economic Forum was held in Krynica for the first time in 1991. Since its inception, the event has become a prestigious political and business meeting of the Central and Eastern European region. The Economic Forum has been focusing on political issues, economic problems and economic reforms of Central and Eastern European countries for many years, but in addition, cooperation within the Visegrad Group is always an important topic.
The 28th Economic Forum in Krynica was organized by three organizations, including the Institute for Eastern Studies, and nearly 4000 people from over 60 countries participated in the program. Participants came from Europe, Asia, the United States and the Middle East. The global theme of the forum was "A Europe of Common Values or a Europe of Common Interest". The main purpose of the event is to establish a dialogue and to develop cooperation between European countries and their partners.
For the State Audit Office, the most important program took place on the first day of the Economic Forum. The section of the Economic Forum received the presentation by Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, President of the Polish Supreme Audit Office. During the presentation, the President of the Polish Supreme Audit Office presented the changes to the Polish statutory and procedural rules related to VAT taxation. In addition to the Slovak and Czech Court of Auditors, the State Audit Office of Hungary was invited to attend the section. This section allows for the participants to get acquainted with the current elements of the fight against VAT fraud and share experiences.
